MEMBER NEWS
The Vets Social Club at Marrickville
The Marrickville Veteran Golfers Social Club (the Vets) arranges a competition for all members and visitors, every Thursday morning, from sun-up until 9am. For a round of golf, members pay $15 and for visitors it is $23.
Everyone is welcome to join, just as long as you are over 50. Annual membership is $5 and new members (men and women) are always welcome. There are currently over 90 members.
Fixtures for the year are produced annually and include events such as:
-
individual stablefords
-
2 ball aggregates and best balls
-
team events, such as a four-ball Ambrose and a 6 x 6 x 6.
There are weekly prizes for nearest to the pin on the 18th and drive and pitch on the 14th. In September each year a Stroke Championship is held over 2 rounds.
Handicaps are provided to all new members and visitors and these are reviewed every 8 to 9 weeks. You do not need to be a member of Marrickville Golf, Sport and Community Club and you are not required to have a Golf Link handicap.
The activities are coordinated by a strong social committee.
The current committee members are:
President: Joe Broun
Vice President: Gayle Varcoe
Secretary: Graeme Johnson
Handicapper: Steve Maclure
Captain: Kevin Gardner
Assistant Secretary: Nigel Litten
Assistant Treasurer: Denise Sebbens
Not ready to play in a competition but want to start somewhere, then the Vets Social Club is a wonderful way to get you started.
For more information please call Kevin on 0407 468 739.
INSTRUCTIVE VIDEO ON REPAIRING PITCH MARKS
Please have a look at this short video on repairing pitch marks. Mick will be pleased if we could all repair our own and one or two other pitch marks on the greens.
